Developing a mission statement for the classroom

Facilitator: Debbie Fox, LCSW

Every school needs a mission statement that can actually benefit each classroom! Through the use of an innovative power point presentation this interactive workshop presents a setting for teachers and administrators to collaborate and develop a practical mission statement that focuses on the values and goals of their department or classroom. Once the mission statement is developed and adapted to meet their needs, the school staff works on utilizing practical operational methods to implement the mission statement into day to day challenges.

Some of the questions addressed throughout the workshop:
  • Do you keep to the standard of this mission statement?
  • Is this a realistic mission statement for your students?
  • Is there anything you can add/delete or change that will make it more realistic?
  • Identify a challenge within this mission statement you personally fear you will face.
  • What are the results you desire to occur?
  • What are the steps that you will take to obtain these results?
