Child Abuse: Education, Awareness, Intervention
Facilitator: Debbie Fox, LCSW
When a child enters a classroom with bruises and black eyes, or when a youngster tells a teacher that he is being beaten at home, it is clear that something must be done. Often, the indications and warnings of child abuse are less clear, and our reactions and concerns are more ambivalent, clouded either by the uncertainty of what we are seeing, or perhaps by the closeness of the community in which we work. A well-prepared and well-trained staff is in a far better position to respond.
This workshop provides practical training in the following areas:
a. Physical and behavioral indicators of abuse
b. Mandated Reporting Laws/Reporting Child Abuse
c. How to respond to a disclosure
