I found myself caring for the direction this child would take in life.

Aleinu Mentors

Through appropriate role modeling, and a warm and accepting attitude, a mentor can become the one adult a child can turn to when the going gets rough. The Aleinu Mentoring program will give our youth the added support needed to navigate through challenging stages of their lives. Mentors are required to volunteer at least one hour per week in order to create a relationship based on trust and consitency, something that these youth often lack. This relationship gives both parties the opportunity to engage in an experience that is both fun and meaningful. Oftentimes, the mentoring relationship proves to enhance and change the lives of both the mentor and the child.

Research confirms that mentoring youth yields the following: improves school attendance, provides a better chance of going on to higher education, and creates a better overall attitude towards school. Additionally, mentoring appears to help prevent substance abuse and reduce negative at-risk behaviors while promoting positive social attitudes and relationships. Mentored youth tend to trust their parents more and communicate better with them.

Aleinu Mentors are provided with a complete training and ongoing support and supervision to help both the mentor and the youth benefit most from their experience.
