Addiction Services
Substance use among Jewish youth has increased dramatically. In response, Aleinu Family Resource Center, the Bureau of Jewish Education, and local high school principals developed a comprehensive innovative substance use awareness and prevention program for all Orthodox high schools in Los Angeles.
Addiction education & prevention services provided to schools:
An introductory interactive and educational program to all students exploring implications of substance use. A goal of this introductory program will be to encourage and stimulate dialogue between students and school-based clinicians about substance use and other high risk behaviors. Additionally, students will be made aware that there is a counselor they can consult when struggling with these issues.
The Mandated Assistance Program (MAP) provides consultation, drug and alcohol assessments, intervention services, and treatment plans as deemed appropriate by the policy. All students referred receive a comprehensive assessment. A treatment plan will be developed, and compliance will be monitored by the Aleinu staff.
An interactive educational program for teachers exploring implications of substance use and other high risk behaviors. This program examines current substance use trends, physical and emotional implications of substance use, signs and symptoms of use, and methods of addressing concerns appropriately. Effective utilization of the Mandated Assistance Program will also be discussed.
An interactive educational program for parents exploring implications of substance use and other high risk behaviors. This program examines current substance use trends, physical and emotional implications of substance use, signs and symptoms of use, and methods of addressing concerns appropriately. A goal of this program will be to assist parents to feel prepared and comfortable discussing substance use issues with their teens.
