Friendship Club: Social Skills Group

Designed to enhance social skills, self esteem and problem solving skills, The Friendship Club, is a social skills group that uses arts & crafts, games, and culinary arts to promote social skills and develop self-confidence. Children find the group a safe place to disclose their worries and ambitions about making friends and keeping them...and have fun while they are learning. Parent’s receive a follow-up weekly e-mail to reinforce group skills. At the conclusion of the group, participants walk away with seven secrets to making new friends and the ability to use these skills.

How do I know if my child needs to improve his or her social skills?

  • Does your child complain that he/ she often feels left out when her peers are involved in games?
  • Is he/she the last one picked when choosing teams for activities or games?
  • Does he/she solicit negative attention from peers by teasing or bullying them?
  • Does he/she remark that he/she is often picked on by their friends?
  • Is he/she constantly trying to make friends without success?
  • Is he/she excessively shy?
  • Do you find your child is not invited to friends’ homes and parties?
