Survey Reveals Marital Satisfaction

Nearly 1,500 men and women participated in the Aleinu Marital Satisfaction Survey, producing a very significant yield of data about the state of marital relationships in the community. The nationwide survey represented all levels of religious observance.

The online survey was conducted 100% confidentially and its data was analyzed by a nationally acclaimed research institute, producing an honest and accurate study of participants. Survey responses reveal that Orthodox married couples have a high level of marital satisfaction and would choose their spouses again if presented the choice. It is also worth noting that a third of the spouses work hard to fulfill the needs of their partners. The sensitivity and care they are showing to their mates is a factor in the optimal state of Orthodox marriages.

When stating issues that may cause discord in their relationships, communication, time spent together, and financial stress were the three topics most often mentioned. Though these problems are certainly addressable, especially in a close-knit social community, they require a certain attention and diligence from the couples and their rabbis since these very same reasons have been stated as cause for divorce between Orthodox couples when not addressed.

The results of the survey are critical in exposing the issues that lead to unhappiness and miscommunication between married partners. With this information, rabbis can better serve their patronage with early prevention and informed promotion of resources available to the couples in need.
