Substance Abuse: What Parents Should Know

During a recent conference held by Aleinu, DUI - Our Hidden Problem, Dr. Josh Lamm set out to advise parents on the focus points for teen substance abuse. Lamm is the founding and current medical director of the Yatzkan Center, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in New York where Orthodox teens recover from addiction. He is also a private practice psychiatrist in New York City and Queens.

Among his astute observations was the need for parents to listen to and understand their teens, to lead by positive example and inspiration, and to provide an open and welcoming environment. The teens who are struggling with an inner battle need the support and guidance of their responsible parents in order to achieve growing past this critical issue.
