Prevention Program Targets Orthodox Kids

Developed in the strong interest of keeping Orthodox children safe from troubling or dangerous situations, Safety Kid (also known as Aleinu Julis Child Safety Program) provides this information in a culturally sensitive setting to keep the kids informed and comfortable. Aleinu’s series of proactive programs designed to protect children in abusive situations was joined by Safety Kid after a generous grant from board member Mitch Julis and his wife Joleen. They have pledged to fund the program for the next four years, a fortunate arrangement for the schools that have been optimistic that the program will lead to optimal safety for the participating children.

Debbie Fox, director of Aleinu, garnered interest in teaching the safety concerns directly to students after reaching a wide network of educators with a conduct policy that has also been effectively received. Future plans include developing similar programs for pre-school children and older students. There are also a growing number of schools outside of the Los Angeles area who have contacted Fox in interest of the Safety Kid program, and its subsequent achievements.
