Orthodox Rabbis Work With JFCS
The Jewish Family & Children’s Service has joined partnership with the Orthodox Rabbinical Council of Greater Phoenix to create a “family commission” that will deal with issues like drug, alcohol and sexual abuse in the Orthodox Jewish community. In a presentation by Debbie Fox, director of Aleinu Family Resource Center, she communicated the susceptible state of religious families who are not always aware of rising concerns that place their loved ones in danger. In working with a social service organization, the Council will be able to advise members of the community in accordance with both Jewish law and secular regulations. Aleinu draws its strength in understanding how to proceed with respect to Orthodox tradition and civil law, and can be used as a model to follow. The pairing of the Orthodox Rabbinical Council and JFCS is a historic one, met with promise and anticipation for future collaborations from organizations with similar goals.
