A Policy For Challenging Times
Facing the emergence of alleged criminal acts against students in the Orthodox community, Dr. David Fox writes about the need to upgrade a respectable model of conduct for each Torah institution to collectively adopt for their own practice. A formal policy of conduct was developed after a task force was assembled by Aleinu Family Resource Center, under the Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, to study cases of abuse in the schools and create a set of guidelines that complies with the individual needs of the schools and pertinent legal restrictions. This policy protects both students and the faculty, outlining clearly what is risky or misunderstandable behavior. With the use of this Conduct Policy and Behavioral Standards, it is the hope that all of the students in the community can grow in a safe and healthy environment.
