Safety Kid Hike-a-Thon

June 01, 2008

The Safety Kid program began in 2006 to address the issue of child abuse prevention. Since then, the program has educated over 4,000 children, their parents and teachers. Through innovative culturally sensitive lesson plans, interactive discussions, and cutting-edge materials, the Safety Kid program is dedicated to KEEP OUR CHIDLREN SAFE!

Families were invited to register online at www.safetykid.kintera.org for the exciting Safety Kid Hike-a-Thon and their chance to not only join the fun, but win exciting prizes. The day was filled with safety demonstrations by World Karate Champion Avi Rokah, Fire Fighter Jeff Halpert, Hatzolah and the Highway Safety Patrol. Excited children and adults alike, gathered around the main stage for the much-anticipated Safety Kid Puppet Show and Magic Diego’s incredible close-up magic, followed by a creative puppet making workshop and balloon creations. For many, the organized hikes lead by our incredible volunteers, was a good way to work off the calories gained sampling the delicious BBQ catered by Mendel and his team. There were arts & crafts, face painting, drill games and so much more. Stay tuned for information on our 2009 Safety Kid Safety Day.
