How do I know if my child needs help?

• Behavior change (relatively calm child becomes very irritable, child who does well in school suddenly can’t concentrate on studies).
• Extreme irritability, frequent temper outbursts
• Can’t concentrate in school
• Excessively quiet, withdrawn, avoids friends, stays in room
• Loses interest in activities
• Low energy or fatigue
• Appetite change, change in sleep pattern (sleeps more or less),
• Excessively sad, cries a lot
• Excessive absences

If you suspect that your child suffers from depression, anxiety or other mental health related issues:

Step 1: Have a medical check up to rule out medical disorders that might cause depression
Step 2: Discuss your concerns with teachers, rabbi, and family members
Step 3: Consult with therapist to evaluate further
