FAQ's About Safety Kid

Want to know more about the Aleinu SAFETY KID Program? Read the following questions and answers.

What is the Aleinu SAFETY KID program?

A comprehensive community model involving schools, parents and children to keep children safe against abuse, abduction and molestation.

Why is Aleinu SAFETY KID training important?

Research shows that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys in the United States are sexually abused before age 12. Only 1 in 10 victimized children report sexual abuse of any kind to someone who can do something about it. We need to empower our children with the skills to keep themselves safe and supported by educated parents and teachers.

How does Aleinu SAFETY KID training help protect my children?

Studies show that when schools, parents and children all work together, everyone benefits, especially the children. Aleinu SAFETY KID training provides tools that open healthy communication between adults and children on sensitive issues. It encourages dialogue regarding personal matters and establishes who the safe adults are for children to talk to. Children are empowered with skills to keep themselves safe.

How is Aleinu SAFETY KID training beneficial to parents and school staff?
Everyone is educated and therefore “on the same page.” Parents are provided with tools to speak with their children on sensitive issues and support them in their role to help keep their children safe. School staff is protected by learning specific policies and procedures, having clear behavioral guidelines and understanding their role in Mandated Reporting.

Who can become SAFETY KID trained?
Currently SAFETY KID training is available for preschool and kindergarten students and elementary school children up to 8th grade . All training includes the components for parents and school staff.

What is the SAFETY KID training process?
Principals and directors can contact Aleinu Family Resource Center to request SAFETY KID training. Schools are scheduled for the three components: Staff Training, Parent Education, and Children’s Presentations. Children’s Presentations take place in each classroom.

What is the cost of the SAFETY KID training?

Cost depends on the number of students being educated and whether the program is located in California or out-of-state. Principals, directors and program managers can contact Aleinu Family Resource Center to request pricing.

Is SAFETY KID training a one-time process?
We recommend a yearly training. Learning is developmental. When subjects are presented on an annual basis, information is processed at a new level.

Is there a discounted fee if my school was trained last year?
Yes. Although re-training fees are still based on the number of students being educated and the location of the school, the annual fee is lower than the initial first-year fee.

What is the annual re-training fee?
Principals, directors and program managers can contact Aleinu Family Resource Center to request pricing.

Can a school request only one component for their school?
Completion of all three components (Staff Training, Parent Education, and Children’s Presentations) is necessary to receive an Aleinu SAFETY KID Certificate.

What if an employee is unable to attend the Staff Training?
If an employee is unable to attend the Staff Training it is the responsibility of the school principal, director or administrator to train that employee and then report it on the proper form prior to receiving an Aleinu SAFETY KID Certificate.

What if a parent is unable to attend the Parent Education Workshop?
Important information on the role and responsibility parents have in supporting children in the ABC’S OF SAFETY will be provided to the schools for distribution. This includes points to remember about sexual abuse and how to discuss it with their children. It is the parent’s responsibility to read the information. The school will document that the parent has read and understood the information.

Is each age group of children educated in the same way?
Children are educated according to their developmental level. Preschool and kindergarten children are engaged in puppet play with exciting supportive SAFETY KID activities and materials including a CD and DVD.

Elementary grades 1st through 4th are educated through the use of large, dynamic teaching card visuals combined with interactive discussions and appropriate, culturally sensitive supportive materials including a CD and DVD.

Middle school grades 5th through 8th receive cutting edge and interactive power point presentations that involve the children in age-appropriate discussions that are interesting, practical and informative.

Does the program work?
Yes. Testimonials and children’s stories are pouring in demonstrating the effectiveness of the SAFETY KID training and program. See Testimonials.
