FAQ’S ABOUT SAFE CAMP!Want to know more about Aleinu SAFE CAMP? Read the following questions and answers.
What is Aleinu SAFE CAMP? A comprehensive model involving camp directors and counselors to keep children safe against abuse and molestation.
Why is Aleinu SAFE CAMP training important? Research shows that 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys in the United States are sexually abused in the United States before age 12. Only 1 in 10 victimized children report sexual abuse of any kind to someone who can do something about it. We need to educate our camp staff by providing them with the skills to keep themselves safe and their campers safe.
How does Aleinu SAFE CAMP training help protect my children? When given the appropriate tools, counselors can work more effectively in providing a fun yet secure environment for the campers. Aleinu SAFE CAMP provides BOOT CAMP training workshops teaching skills that encourage healthy interaction between counselors and their campers.
Is there BOOT CAMP training for camp directors? Yes. Directors are encouraged to attend sessions that are specifically for them. When everyone is educated and “on the same page,” parents can be assured of a safe environment for their children and counselors can count on the support of their directors in keeping themselves and the campers safe.
Who can become SAFE CAMP trained? BOOT CAMP training is open to day and overnight camp directors and counselors.
What is the SAFE CAMP training process? Camp directors can call Aleinu Family Resource Center to request BOOT CAMP training at their site or participate in centrally located Aleinu sponsored BOOT CAMP workshops offered prior to the summer season. See Contact Us
What is the cost of the SAFETY KID training? Cost depends on the site location or whether directors and counselors attend centrally located workshops. Directors can call Aleinu Family Resource Center to request pricing and location. See Contact Us.
Is SAFETY KID training a one-time process? We recommend yearly training. New directors and counselors can become familiar with contact guidelines and other important developmental issues concerning children. Those who have experienced BOOT CAMP before often have questions on issues that arose during previous camp seasons.
Is there a discounted fee if my camp was trained last year? All training fees are based on site location or whether directors and counselors attend centrally located workshops. Directors can call Aleinu Family Resource Center to request pricing and location. See Contact Us page.
Should the camp director and the camp counselors all be trained through BOOT CAMP? Yes.
What if a counselor is unable to attend the BOOT CAMP? If a counselor is unable to attend the BOOT CAMP workshops it is the responsibility of the camp director to train that counselor and then report it on the proper form prior to receiving an Aleinu SAFE CAMP Certificate.
Does the program work? Yes. Testimonials from camp directors and counselors demonstrating the effectiveness of the BOOT CAMP training indicate that it is both worthwhile and effective.
